TOURISM DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY OF THE WORLD HERITAGE AREA OF HAMPI

The project consists of the definition of a strategy and an administration model that allows the “Hampi World Heritage Authority” to activate a process for the socio-economic and tourism development of the archaeological site of Hampi, declared a Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1989. The organization of Local Consultative Committees (including locals, governmental institutions, public and private tourism stakeholders, site managers, etc.) has been considered as a tool for improving communication channels and developing interaction between all parties. The strategy’s approach puts local communities and related environmental issues at the center of the development process.
