Program for the development of Rural Tourism in Panama

This project consisted in identifying a strategy and development model for rural tourism in Panama. Furthermore, Target Euro defined a mid-term (4 years) project that included, institutional reinforcement  for the main players included in the project, infrastructural development, socio-economic development and the creation of a portfolio will all of panamas rural tourist products. The program, which refers to all rural tourism in the country, detailed an action plan specifically forGolf of Montijo and the Tierra Altaareas, the pilot areas for the project. In the beginning the timeframe was 4 months but the project was suspended for election celebrations.

 

Services Rendered:

  • Analysis of Panama’s rural tourism (questions and offers)
  • Analysis of tourists possible question (questionnaire given to international tour operators)
  • Identification of the key players to be included in the BID program.
  • Identification of a strategy and development model for rural tourism.
  • Identification of a new portfolio of rural tourist products to offer to the tourist market.
  • Identification of a group of pilot projects (infrastructure, economic, social, institutional development etc), that make up the action plan. According to the different needs for intervention, the projects identified were classified according to priority.
